craftyThe many unique finds you can get from the many weekend markets that are springing up all over the place cannot be understated as they are a very good source of recyclable furniture and other trinkets that can be turned into unique stuff. Using some basic tools, loose crystals from antique chandeliers and some silver bits and parts can be made into very attractive lighting fixtures that would be the envy of your peers. Most chandelier crystals have holes which were used to hang them and with some gold or silver wire, available at crafts stores, these can be turned into light accents or other interesting pieces that would allow you to create one of a kind masterpieces. Condo Neighbors

Neighbors can be your greatest allies but at the same time your most horrible enemies. Be acquainted with your neighbors. As much as possible, initiate short and friendly discussions with them, and take note how long they have lived at the community. When the time comes, you can even set up a buddy or companion system with a few of them so you all pay attention for each other. If you feel even the slightest bit uneasy, inquire one of your neighbors to accompany or guide you to the laundry room or parking lot so you won’t be by yourself.

On Lightning

Lighting Experts propose visiting a potential apartment community at least two or three times at different times of the day. When you went to the property at nighttime, you’ll be able to find out what the neighborhood is resembling. Be sure that the lighting in the common areas and near your front door is well-lighted. If the lighting is not bright enough or if the light bulbs are burned out, report it to  your landlord immediately to resolve the problem. Indoors lighting as well is just as important. Most experts have the same opinion that timers are a sensible and inexpensive answer.

Low Platforms

In a condominium unit, space is everything, and you would want to buy for furniture that is not too spacey and would have another function or two for that piece.

Also, in a cozy unit, you might as well would want to become comfortable with the place, and to have that comfort is to go on the ground, low – by low platform furniture.

These pieces are actually for storage as side table has a drawer, console which has two drawers, and the dresser with four drawers. But you can always double the side table and your console as a table when you are sitting on the floor while your partner is laying beside you. Now, ain’t that sweet?

A number of high-rise or mid-rise communities may have a protected access system that merely allocates residents to go into the community using a particular special key card, somehow similar to hotel cards. If you reside in such a community, abide by the manager’s policies for using these special keys for your own protection; those regulations were made for your own protection. Be sure that no one follows you into the structure and most significantly, take your key card with you at all times. If you encounter problems with the admission card, report it to the organization or the management’s office right away.

Do grilling and condo living mix?

Condo Living Comments Off

As you gaze out of your condo’s sliding door at your mini back yard, do you begin to think of the good old days when you were the king of the grill…and thinking those days are gone now that you are living in a condominium? Not necessarily. Although it may be more difficult, grilling apron and condo ownership are not an oxymoronic coupling.

Condo owners are getting with the popularity of cooking outdoors and coming up with some options.

In an article by Les Christie, CNNMoney.com staff writer, I learned that Designer influence is seeping into condo housing.

The Armani brand, in this case, was chosen for its muscular values. According to Arthur Gallego, the publicist for the marketer SHVO. “We knew it would attract a primarily male clientele,” he says, “and Armani’s very masculine palette was a good match.”

As a single lady, I love condo living. I own the inside. Everything on the outside is the responsibility of the Condo Association, and I’m part of that too. For a nominal monthly fee, snow is shoveled, grass is cut, and exterior maintenance is shared by 28 units. Read the rest of this entry »

Condo Living Is Not Meant To Be Hassle-Free

Shocked by the prospects of having to pay as much as $11,000 each in a special assessment, owners of units in a Farmington condominium complex have banded together to find a solution to their million-dollar problem.

Normally, few of the unit owners attend condominium board meetings, but about 60 residents of the Greenbriar complex showed up at last Monday’s special meeting to figure out what to do about their wooden siding, which is rotting in many places and needs to be replaced.

Condo Hotels

20.jpgThe current development in real estate investing is the hotel condominium idea, known also as CondoHotels or Condotels. The essential concept is that a shareholder owns a specific condominium unit in a huge building or development, which can be later used by the owner, or rented to unrelated parties on a short term basis, as part of a hotel. The person who is renting the space may have no idea that the unit is owned by someone. The owners more often than not are part of an association which deals out the rental income. Expenses are by the way subtracted from the profits or collected as an appraisal.

Going Green – Cheaply

Condo Living, Decorating, Information Comments Off

hanging-gardenMany people find it hard to imagine the fact that going green doesn’t entail a lot of cost, for simple DIY projects can not only add beauty but make your small space more earthy and natural. Have carpet, why not opt for wooden floors made from laminated bamboo, they are sustainable and cost little compared to more expensive and rare hardwood. Want natural walls, simple hemp fiber mats hung on stainless steel rods can add a natural feel to an otherwise harsh cinder block wall, you can also use them for window coverings.
